The following is an example of a workflow plan we created for an existing shop. The paint booth and lift were already in place, as well as the support columns represented on the diagram by yellow hexagons. Restrictions on the customer's lease prevented alterations, such as added doors.

  • Work enters shop and can be torn down and blueprinted.
  • A lift is available if necessary for teardown, inspection, or component removal prior to frame repair.
  • Frame bench is "drive-across" for continuous forward movement.
  • Sheet metal stalls are accessible from either direction and close to paint area when jamming parts.
  • There are fast lanes for jobs that need no frame or mechanical repair and move directly to paint.
  • Drive-through booth location was not an option, so cool down
and reassembly are in least obtrusive areas.
